Zambian High Commissioner pays courtesy call on GCCI

High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia to Guyana, Mr. Joel Ngo, paid a courtesy call on the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Monday September 6, 2010.

Mr. Ngo, who presented his letters of credence to President Bharrat Jagdeo on Wednesday September 8, 2010, met with GCCI President, Mr. Komal Ramnauth and advocated for greater cooperation between Zambia and Guyana.

Ambassador Ngo said that he views the Chamber as an engine for development as well as the voice of the Private Sector and he felt his trip would be incomplete without meeting with GCCI.

He added that Zambia and Guyana face similar challenges and there is a lot that the countries can learn from each other.

The Ambassador stated that he could like the Chamber to connect with the corresponding entity in Zambia in order for the organizations to work together in identifying opportunities.

GCCI President, Mr. Komal Ramnauth said that the Chamber is ready and willing to work on identifying opportunities that will be beneficial to both nations. He added that GCCI will be in contact with the Chamber of Commerce in Zambia to discuss possible synergies that can be formed.

During his visit, High Commissioner Ngo has engaged several government functionaries and private organizations.

The Republic of Zambia is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. The neighbouring countries are the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Angola. The capital city is Lusaka, located in the south-central part of the country. The population is concentrated mainly around the capital Lusaka in the south and the Copperbelt to the northwest.
